FAIR HAIR CONTEST
Join us for a Best Mullet, Beard & Mustache Contest on Thursday, August 11 at 6:00PM at the stage.   This contest is open to all ages and genders!

CATEGORIES FOR ENTRY:
1. FULL BEARD (Under 6 Inches): Full beard as it grows naturally, the more natural the better. The mustache may not be highlighted & the beard may not be turned under at the bottom. Length may not exceed 6” when measured from the bottom of the lower lip.

2. FULL BEARD (6 Inches or More): Full beard as it grows, left natural, the more natural the better! The mustache may not be highlighted. Unlimited length, must be over 6" when measured from the bottom of the lower lip.

3. DAPPER 'STACHE (Styled Mustache): Any length, any style. Styling aids permitted.

4. GREATEST GOAT: Any length or style goatee. Goatees should have a minimum 3” gap of bald or otherwise shaved skin between the bottom of the ear and the beginning of the goatee.

5. COUPLES: Any pairing of people can compete. Must have a theme to the couple. Grab a partner and have fun! Styling aids and props/costumes permitted. There will be a beard category and a mullet category!

6. BUILD-A-BEARD/MAKE-A-MULLET: The Build-A-Beard/Make-A-Mullet category is wide-open, can be any gender. Create the most imaginative and fantastic mullets, beards and/or mustaches you can. The choice of materials is completely up to you. The more creative, the better! Must be completed with your own materials prior to the start of the contests.

7. MULLETS:  Best Mullet 18+, Best Mullet 17 & Under, Best Make-A-Mullet (see above)

8. NOT A MULLET, JUST LONG HAIR: Best head of hair!


9. GRAND CHAMPION: Selected by the judges for best overall styles

The contests will be judged by local hair professionals. The Judge's decision is FINAL. Prizes will be awarded.  All mullets, beards, & mustaches must be grown by the participant themselves, no fake hair, wigs, extensions, or artificial hair will be accepted into the categories listed above, with the exception of the BUILD-A-BEARD/MAKE-A-MULLET category.  Special thanks to our friends at Bonner County Fair in Idaho for the ideas! 
Mullets and long hair will be judged on the following:
Volume - Thickness and fullness of the mullet
Length - how long in inches your mullet is
Quality - how close is your hair to the "actual mullet look"
Style - how the hair is cut and arranged
Dazzle - does your hair have any unique characteristics

FAIR BEAR SEWING CONTEST
New for 2022, another idea from our friends at Bonner County, Idaho, the Fair Bear Contest.  Use the patterns provided to sew a bear, or turn it in to any animal, as long as it is created from the original pattern.  
​
Youth: Use the "Brown Bear Plush" pattern. 
Adult: Use the "Adult Fair Bear Pattern & Tutorial"
Bonus: Use the "Bunny" pattern to create a second bear friend.  "Bears" will be judged on creativity, originality, and quality of sewing.

HAY BALE CONTEST rules & ENTRY
HAY BALE CONTEST
  • Open to anyone - groups, clubs, businesses, individuals
  • Must submit entry form by July 15 to be judged
  • Decorated hay bales must be set up no later than Sunday, July 31
  • Judging starts Monday, August 1. Winners will be announced Wednesday, August 10 in a display at the fair
  • Displays must contain either the fair theme “Country Fun For Everyone” or Roosevelt County Fair in general. Business/organization etc. may also be used, as long as one of the two themes is also utilized  
  • Entries will be placed throughout Roosevelt County at your discretion, although you can request a preferred location, including the fairgrounds. Entries must be placed where they can easily be seen from public roads.  Clues to the scavenger hunt will be given to the public, so use discretion
  • Lights, illumination, and solar may be used
  • Entries on fairgrounds cannot exceed 12 feet wide and 15 feet long
  • A limited number of bales may be available via donation to the fair, although this is not a guarantee

Join us for our first Goat Fashion Show on August 11 following the Sheep and Goat Livestock Show

It is open to anyone with a goat or sheep, and if you need to borrow one, we can see about making arrangements!
Categories will include handmade/homemade costumes, and store bought costumes, as well as a "dress it on the spot" category.
